Spending $5 on a miniature “wellness” shot is hard to rationalize.
And luckily, buying those viles is not the only option.
As the first recipe of 2023, I’m taking (ginger) shots to celebrate! Since ginger shots can be expensive, here’s an easy recipe to make your own… In fact, this amounts to about $1 per serving.
As you may notice, since the school year started up, I haven’t been making too many things for the blog. I finally feel like I’ve gotten the hang of online class schedules and studying, so be on the lookout for more posts!
Anyways, I’ve decided to reboot my culinary creations with this delicious smoothie. After all, what’s more refreshing and resetting than a glass of nutrients? I’ve been drinking this smoothie every day for breakfast over the past two weeks. That’s how much I love it.
Amidst coronavirus, I’m sticking to what I – and a lot of other people – love most: cooking and baking. One challenge I’ve presented to myself is to make a dish (or dishes) of international cuisines every week, learn some words from the language, and e-visit some of the country’s landmarks. Some of these dishes will be more complex than others, based on what ingredients I have available in the house.
こんにちは!
Kon’nichiwa! This week we’re heading to Japan. This country is definitely on my bucket list to visit. Between the intersection of tradition, futurism, and delicate, layered flavors of its cuisine, it’s been fun to learn more about Japan outside of sashimi 🙂

I didn’t have my first real experience of Indian cuisine until I went to Quilon in London. Since then, my mom and I have been on an Indian food craze: cultivating a colorful spice collection, signing up for a vegan Indian cooking class through Cozymeal (with Mukti Banerjee in Brooklyn), watching a Chef’s Table episode on Asma Khan, and eating at Masala Bay (in Somerset, NJ) a lot.
I’m going to be upfront: cooking Indian food can be time consuming and can sometimes require you to have an encyclopedia of spices. But once you collect some of the pantry staples, they’re perfect for times like these. I’ve tried to bring about three dishes that are simple with process and require only a few staple spices.
You’ve probably seen those picturesque Instagram posts of turmeric lattes. I was skeptical about their taste and benefits until I fell sick recently. After finishing a mug of turmeric latte, I was on my road to recovery. With Indian origins, turmeric latte (also known as golden turmeric milk) is traditionally part of Ayurvedic practice and is known to fight against inflammation and balance your doshas. Doshas are energies that define a person’s makeup in Ayurvedic medicine. Whether or not you are sick (or believe in Ayurveda), turmeric lattes are as nutritious as they are delicious.
Summer is all about relaxation and restoration. With constant pool and beach activities – not to mention the crazy heat – a delicious and healthy treat is well deserved. That’s why I’ve created this minty matcha protein smoothie. Refreshing with its minty flavor, energizing with matcha, and satisfying with protein, this is the ideal smoothie to get you back on your feet (or chez, whichever one you prefer 🙂 ).
I love making homemade nut milks. Not only because it’s super easy and so much healthier than your typical store-bought type, but because you can take a simple recipe and make it your own… like making Chocolate Hazelnut Milk – or what I like to call it – “Nutella” milk. Imagine: liquified Nutella, but 100 times healthier. No junk allowed! Continue reading →
Hello soon-to-be-smoothie lover! You may have already seen all over Instagram cute pictures of leafy smoothies, and wonder to yourself why anyone would drink that. I have to admit, that was my reaction to them until this month. Going from activity to activity, you need something that’s quick and will power you through – and smoothies are the perfect way to do so. They’re easy, and the most convenient way to pack in your fruits, veggies, protein, and healthy fats. For smoothie skeptics like me, along with smoothie enthusiasts, this simple smoothie recipe is the tastiest there is :).
Perhaps one of the best food related things about Fall is the beverages: the coffee cups warming your hands on your way to work, the pumpkin spiced latte on your break, the list goes on. Sometimes, instead of entering out in the cold to get your fix of these beverages, make it at home and make it better health and taste wise! All you need is a coffee creamer base to transform it into your favorite beverage.
